Visionary. Transforming a neglected piece of land to a self-sufficient and self-regulating place of abundance.
Kenny bought a degraded and neglected piece of land just outside of Barrydale with a vision to restore its vitality and to create a sustainable ecosystem that would operate on regenerative agricultural practices. Metanoia. “The journey of changing one’s mind, heart, self, or way of life.” In his case, a career change from oil trader and investment banker to distiller and farmer. His commitment to environmental regeneration and sustainable farming led to the adoption of methods such as permaculture, holistic management, and agroforestry. To make such a small farm financially viable he decided to build a craft distillery. At the heart is a state-of-the-art Muller hybrid pot still manufactured and hand hammered in Germany. His range of premium distillates include pot still brandy, a single malt whisky, some fruit brandies, a grappa and a gin that is made from botanicals that grow on the farm and in the area. Kenny is proud of the farm’s off-grid status. Powered by solar energy, gas and steam, the farm and craft distillery can run independently from the power grid. He will do a gin tasting Friday evening at the Karoolkie Cellar.
