Barrydale’s New Town Manager
The municipality is pleased to welcome Mr Jenovaan Booysen as the new Town Manager of Barrydale. With over a decade of experience in both the construction and municipal sectors, Jenovaan brings a strong technical background in civil engineering, coupled with a deep commitment to service delivery and community development.
His career began in the private construction industry before moving into local government in 2015. Since then, he has served in several leadership roles, including Head of Infrastructure Services at Hessequa Municipality and, most recently, as PMU Manager and Acting Director of Infrastructure at Kannaland Municipality. Prior to Hessequa municipality, he was the senior technical officer at Theewaterskloof municipality responsible for infrastructure maintenance and planning.
Originally from Robertson, Jenovaan now calls Barrydale home. He was drawn to the town not only for its natural beauty but also for the opportunity to apply his skills in a community-focused role. His vision includes improving core infrastructure, protecting the local environment, stimulating economic growth, and fostering an accountable and responsive municipal administration.
Jenovaan is committed to staying connected to the community. His office is open for appointments, and he actively participates in public forums such as the community safety meetings. He is also part of local WhatsApp groups and is willing to organise community meetings when needed to address pressing concerns outside the municipality’s formal public participation schedule.

“Make a bed for the children of other people in the place where your own children sleep.” We might have our differences but together we all wish for a better future for our children. Let’s develop and implement the strategies necessary, while we’re here, to turn that wish into our children’s reality.”
