Loving the country life in Barrydale with her husband, horses, dogs and Disahouse nursery.
Hildegard has been associated with Barrydale since 1992 and relocated from Cape Town in 2000 with her husband, Jean, after having worked at Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden for ten years. In Barrydale she carried on in her main field of interest, namely South African orchids, specifically Disas. Having been trained as a propagator, she set up a facility for propagating local indigenous flora (other than succulents), suitable for Karoo gardens. She also expanded into the field of old roses and medicinal herbs after discovering several of these plants growing on Barrydale properties.
