Barrydale is set to bloom like never before after the abundant rains this year. Indulge in your gardening passion and come visit the weekend of 6 to 8 October where you will be entertained, receive valuable tips on growing plants and soil regeneration, go on tours through vegetable and indigenous medicinal projects, and walk through some of the magical Klein Karoo veld and gardens. A weekend of gardening fun to benefit Barrydale Hospice, the chosen charity this year. Like Barrydale in Bloom, the Barrydale Hospice is 10 years old. Come celebrate a decade of Klein Karoo beauty.

This year the center of the Barrydale in Bloom will be both the Karoolkie farm in the middle
of Barrydale and the Karoo Art Hotel.

Karoolkie Farm
The Saturday’s market and speaker activity will be hosted at the spectacular stone cellar on the six hectare jewel at the heart of Barrydale, Karoolkie Farm. All the buildings on the farm were designed by famed environmental architect Ettienne Bruwer. The farm’s olive orchard and vineyards are being transformed into large medicinal and tea gardens. There will be a guided tour of the gardens and the essential oil distillery.
Karoo Art Hotel
Barrydale, Western Cape
Two years ago Rick and Sue Melvill bought the Karoo Art Hotel just before Barrydale in Bloom. With renovations about to start, the best they could manage was graffiti by mural artist Quinton Faro: "Welcome to Barrydale in Bloom, we'll also be blooming soon." A promise that came true as shortly after opening, the hotel was awarded 4 star status and beginning 2023 received a top Trip Advisor award. This year the Karoo Art Hotel is one of the official host venues and to celebrate the coming of spring the hotel commissioned a series of flags by local artist Cherie Dirksen. During the Barrydale in Bloom weekend a botanical art exhibition will also be showcased.
